`Three attempts made to attack lecturer'

Kochi: Yunis Ali, the fourth accused in the lecturer attack case, said that they had tried to chop the hand of the lecturer three times before but succeed only in the fourth attempt. Yunis made it clear that it was not a quotation team which carried out the attack but Popular Front activists themselves. Three times they had tried to attack him in his house. The first time the lecturer was not there. In the other two attempts the lecturer was accompanied by one or more persons. Naser is the kingpin behind the attack, he revealed.

Police also got information on those who had given financial assistance for the attack. Yunis was held from Palakkad while trying to flee to Tamil Nadu.
